Must-Visit Historic Landmarks...
- Atlanta History Center (Buckhead) — One of the crown jewels of ATL. If you have limited time, please don't miss Locomotion: Railroads and the Making of Atlanta and Cyclorama: The Big Picture. In ATL, it all started with the Zero Mile Post.
- Historic Oakland Cemetery (Grant Park) — Stunning and wonderfully walkable Victorian cemetery with amazing views of the downtown skyline. Start at visitor's center and take a guided tour if you have time. While you are in the cemetery, see if you can find A) the Lion of Atlanta; B) a pile of golf balls and C) the headstone of a famous mayor that was oriented so he could keep an eye on our city.
- Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Park (Old Fourth Ward) — Start at the Visitor's Center; go inside Ebeneezer Baptist Church!!! Sit near the reflecting pool and read about Dr. King. If time permits, visit his birth home.
- National Center for Civil & Human Rights (Downtown) — This is a must visit site, especially the civil rights exhibit (first floor).
