Atlanta Nature Hikes

We can create a unforgettable outdoor experience for your group. Please contact us for more information...
Atlanta is known as the "city in the forest," which is great news for people who enjoy nature. ExploreATL offers various public tours that will get you off the beaten path and onto pristine nature trails before you can say, "Gone with the wind." We also offer private tours which are ideal for corporate team building and other group activities. Described below are some of our favorite places to hike and bike...

Freedom Park

  • At just over 200 acres, Freedom Park is one of Atlanta's largest public parks.
  • We LOVE Freedom Park because it has some of the best biking and walking trails in Atlanta. Is is also far less crowded than some of the more popular trails around town such as the Eastside Trail.
  • We are lucky to have Freedom Park because the land it sits on was almost a freeway. Fortunately, greener heads prevailed and we ended up with a park, albeit after 500+ homes were acquired through eminent domain and razed to the ground.

Olmsted Linear Park

  • Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, Sr, this historic park is the centerpiece of Atlanta's Druid Hills neighborhood.
  • This 2-mile park consists of six segments: Springvale, Virgilee, Oak Grove, Shadyside, Dellwood and Deepdene. Each is unique (and stunning) in its own right.
  • Deepdene is a 22-acre old growth forest that is home to some Atlanta's largest and oldest trees
  • Olmsted Linear Park is ideal for walking and bike tours
  • Deepdene Park is 1.6 miles from Downtown Decatur

Piedmont Park

  • Piedmont Park really is the "crown jewel" of Atlanta's Emerald Necklace.
  • At just over 200 acres, it is one of Atlanta's largest parks. It is also one of the most historic places in our city.
  • Piedmont Park is home to some of Atlanta's most important events such as the Dogwood Festival, Music Midtown and Peachtree Road Race.
  • In addition to its stunning appearance, Piedmont Park has miles of biking and walking trails, which is why we LOVE leading nature hikes there.
  • Piedmont Park is the jewel that it is because of the Piedmont Park Conservancy. Since 1989, over $66 million has been invested into Piedmont Park through capital improvements raised by the Conservancy.
  • If you are a position to do so, please lend your support and encourage your friends to do the same.
