Piedmont Park

Piedmont Park is a 200-acre urban park located in Midtown Atlanta. It is the "crown jewel" of Atlanta's Emerald Necklace, a collection of parks and greenspaces that surround the city and are connected by the Atlanta BeltLine.

Piedmont Park, which dates back to the early 1800s, has a rich and interesting history. The Piedmont Exposition of 1887 and the Cotton States and International Exposition of 1895 were held here.

Yesterday's Spring Equinox Piedmont Park tour with Explore Atlanta...
I know a lot about Piedmont Park: living next to it the past 10 years, I've done many walks and tours, and it's a common stomping ground for me.  But on Steve's tours, there always seems to be things I didn't know that I get to learn about --like the actual river that used to run through the park or the time the Liberty Bell visited. Or more in-depth stories of things I did -- like the Nelson Mandela tribute in the pictures below.  A great way to get some fresh air and kick off Spring! ~ Stacy F
